About Our Business

Global Events and Services is a Veteran Owned Business.  Specifically, we are a Service-Related Disability Veteran Owned Business (SDVOB).  This designation will allow Global Events and Services to be eligible for specific government contracting provisions as established by Federal Public Law 106-50 and 108-183.  Please see the About SDVOB page for additional information and links.

Winfried E. (Win) Scheel

Win’s Army career started as an enlisted member as a construction equipment operator (Engineer).  He received a Green to Gold Scholarship after 4 ½ yrs enlisted service.  Win attended the University of North Alabama as a Signal Corps National Guardsmen, receiving an Army Commission in the Quartermaster Corps and a BS in Business Administration.  

He served for over 16 years as an Army Logistician with training in aircraft loading, rapid deployment, HAZMAT, contracting officers representative, food service operations, support operations, Combined Arms Service Staff School and Command and General Staff College.  He commanded an electronics maintenance and repair parts company in Bosnia and served in both wars in Iraq.  He has worked in all logistical fields of the Army and is a true multi-functional Logistician.  

Win’s highest decoration is the Bronze Star followed by the defense meritorious medal and three meritorious service medals along with four deployment ribbons, numerous other awards and decorations and nominated to several military honor societies.  Win recently finished a masters in public administration from the University of Oklahoma.   

Win has written several articles on logistics support to the military and has experienced contractor support to the military and government organizations throughout his many deployments that include Iraq, Korea, Bosnia/Croatia/Hungary, Germany, Italy, France, England, Alaska and finally in retirement to Greece for the 2004 Summer Olympiad in Athens.  Win served as an assistant professor of ROTC at Creighton University and the University of Nebraska, Omaha.


Thomas M. (Tom) Overman

Tom's Navy career also started as an enlisted member.  He was an Interior Communications Electrician for three years, and finished that initial Active Duty tour as a Petty Officer Second Class (E-5).  After that, he attended Warren Wilson College, where he received his Bachelors in Applied Math & Physics.  Tom also has an MS in Engineering Management from Santa Clara University.

After earning his Bachelors degree, Tom returned to the Naval Reserve as a Cryptologic Officer.  He is currently a Commander, and is the Commanding Officer of a Naval Security Group Reserve unit.  In addition to his military background, Tom worked for many years for the ROLM Company, which was owned by IBM and by Siemens.  After that he worked in the IT department at Applied Materials, and at Exodus Communications.

Tom's highest decoration is the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, followed by the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (2), and a number of other campaign medals/ribbons and citations.

A Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Tom is also an Adjunct Faculty Member of the National Cryptologic School of the National Security Agency.   He also has program management experience gained through several years of working for Silicon Valley technology companies.
